God will set up a king who executes authority, prosperity, and justice. He will be called "The Lord Our Righteousness." Jeremiah 23:1-6

And you, church, will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways, to give knowledge of salvation to His people. Luke 1:66-79

Jesus is head of the church, pre-eminent in all things, indwelt by the fullness of all things, reconciler of all things to Himself, for peace. Colossians 1:11-20

Here's a King that didn't save, or look out for, Himself. Luke 23:33-43

Bible Reading Group Homework

1.    Research and tell, and listen to others tell, What is the name by which various countries call their top leader?

2.    Read or listen to Jeremiah 23:1-6. In Jeremiah’s day, the top leadership was called, “King,” but God called them, “Shepherds.” What did they not do, and what would God do?

3.    Read or listen to Luke 1:66-79. They didn’t know what to call the forerunner of Jesus; in this case his father called him, “Child.” What would this child do?

4.    Read or listen to Colossians 1:11-20. Paul calls the top leadership in the church, “Head.” Who is Head of the church? Describe and discuss His powers.

5.    Read or listen to Luke 23:33-43. Name at least three people who called Jesus, “King,” or one with a “kingdom.” Describe the motives of each. Which are you?
