Though I don't know from Scripture exactly who this servant was, I can envision the beautiful events this servant was to proclaim. Isaiah 49:1-7
Hebrews claims "Lo I come...." for Jesus. What would it have been like to write and sing those words in David's time? Psalm 40:1-11
Paul said the Corinthian Christians were called as saints, called into fellowship with others who call on the name of Jesus. 1 Corinthians 1:1-9
Jesus said, "Come and see," inviting into the first half of witness. Then Phillip said, "Come and see," doing the second half of witness. Jesus topped both invitations with, "I saw you." John 1:29-42

Let your imagination picture in detail something you want very much. Let the strength of the detail engage all your energies. Isaiah 49:1-7
Review today your deepest calling, the thing you know deep inside that you must do, the bottom-line imperative goal of your life. Psalm 40:1-11
I really have been given all speech, knowledge, and other talents needed for what I'm called to do in this world. 1 Corinthians 1:1-9
Take a moment today to actually see a someone or something often overlooked, the janitor, the noisy child, the feral cat. John 1:29-42
Bible Reading Group Homework
1. Imagine Jesus sees you. You can see right into Jesus’ eyes, love with no lust, lift with no obligation, call with no guilt, strength with no violence. He touches you. What are your feelings?
2. Read or listen to Isaiah 49:1-7. List and describe the freedoms and joys of the beautiful vision of nurturing neighborhood. Who is called to help build it?
3. Read or listen to Psalm 40:1-11. Compare Hebrews 10:7, where these words are put in Jesus’ mouth. Could you say them? Draw or dramatize how this might have been sung in David’s time.
4. Read or listen to 1 Corinthians 1:1-9. Paul said they were called. Whom does he say is called, to what? What are the evidences of their calling?
5. Read or listen to John 1:29-42. What was the call here. Who called whom, to do what? Sit for a moment with the big idea of being called by someone special to a special work. Mix with that the big picture of nurturing neighborhood and consider how and to what you may be realizing a sense of call.
