1.    Recall the “Knock Knock” jokes. Tell some and listen to some. Discuss what makes them work.

2.    Read or listen to Revelation 17:7-18. This continues the explanation given by the angel about the judgment of Babylon. Please circle in the reading every verb of being: is, are, was, were, will be. Then make a list of a few symbols with their definitions as discovered here.

3.    Read or listen to Revelation 17:8-11. Notice the lack of their names in the book of life, and their destination of destruction. Compare Revelation 13:1, 8 to note that the animal on which Babylon rides is the same as the animal from the sea. Discuss this in light of the previous identification of the ridden animal as the great red dragon (compare Revelation 17:3 with Revelation 12:3, 9).

4.    Read or listen to Revelation 17:9-10. This portion is often called an “enigma” or “riddle.” Think like a first century Christian of Jewish heritage. The world-power nations in Jewish history were Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, and Rome. Yet to come was religious Rome and all the events since the Reformation and the French Revolution. Discuss.

5.    Read or listen to Revelation 17:7-18. Find symbolic meanings for “ten horns” and “waters.” Please focus on what happens when these all make war with the Lamb in verse 14, the next phase of Armageddon. What do you think it means to be “called, and chosen, and faithful”?

Finale: What means the most to you out of today’s reading of Revelation 17:7-18? What will you do about it now?
